Powers of attorney and the
Public Guardianship Office
We have experience of dealing with the issues arising from mental incapacity, often resulting from the illnesses of old age. We can deal with Powers of Attorney and the Court of Protection and Public Guardianship Office on your behalf.
Power of Attorney
If you are having difficulty handling your affairs while you are still alive, perhaps through incapacity, illness or if you are out of the country, you can appoint someone to handle them for you. This is called giving Power of Attorney. Peters Langsford Davies can advise you on the steps required to make this happen and assist you to appoint a suitable person to represent you. We can advise on the type of Power of Attorney most suitable for you.
The Public Guardianship Office
The Court of Protection and Public Guardianship Office (soon to be called the Public Custodianship Office) provide services to promote the financial and social well-being of people with mental incapacity. The Court may appoint a Deputy to manage and administer a person’s affairs whilst they are unable to do so themselves. The Public Guardianship Office will assist and support the Deputy in completing their duties and assist them to promote the best interests of the person with mental incapacity.
